Media Releases

Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW) is proud to announce that students and teachers achieved outstanding success, winning in all three categories in which we were nominated.

The NSW Training Awards, now in their 70th year, are conducted annually by Training Services NSW within the Department of Education to recognise excellence in vocational education and training (VET). The Awards celebrate the achievements of students, trainers, teachers, registered training organisations, and employers who exemplify the transformative power of VET.

This year’s winners from the Catholic sector include:

NSW VET in Schools Student of the Year
Winner: Darby Hubber – Hospitality and PI, St Raphael’s Catholic School, Cowra

NSW School-based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year
Winner: Amali Rollinson – Hairdressing, Mackillop College Bathurst

NSW VET Trainer/Teacher of the Year
Winner: Penny MacKay – VET Coordinator, Hospitality & Business, Kildare Catholic College, Wagga Wagga

‘These results highlight the strength of vocational education and training within Catholic Schools,’ said Dallas McInerney, Chief Executive Officer of CSNSW. ‘Catholic schools have leading results in VET for many years now, and it’s pleasing to see these winners’ skills and hard work recognised.’

‘Our students and teachers are excelling in real-world pathways that equip them with the skills, independence, and confidence to thrive beyond school. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the example they set as VET Ambassadors for the future.’
