Curious about Liberal Arts in contemporary Catholic schools? 2025 CSNSW K-12 Curriculum Reform Conference (Ref: 113/25)
Join the conversation with your NSW Catholic education community in September
The Liberal Arts refer to a broad field of study that includes subjects aimed at cultivating well-rounded, free-thinking, and morally responsible individuals: An Education for Life.
In a speech in 2024, Archbishop Anthony Fisher noted, “Modern education is often focused on technical mastery, ATARs or job-readiness, to the neglect of what ultimately fulfills the human person.” A broad education he argues, “will hopefully excite our students' curiosity about many things...A Catholic liberal arts education will cultivate both their humanitas and their religious sense."
Our Keynote speaker Professor Renée Köhler-Ryan will offer a deep and formative perspective on what Liberal Arts can mean in Catholic schools today.
Professor Renée Köhler-Ryan is the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Academic Registrar at the University of Notre Dame Australia. She has been involved in Catholic Education, training and forming teachers and leaders for over 12 years, including designing the Graduate Certificate in Catholic Thought.
Once again, the conference will bring together experts in education, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and Catholic mission to support and inform diocesan school systems and schools in the implementation of the NSW curriculum reform.
Enlivening hearts and minds, focusing on the NSW K-12 Curriculum Reform, will allow us to collectively explore our thinking and practice for advancing the mission of Catholic schools.
Session and Master Classes will include:
- leadership and leading change;
- the Liberal Arts for contemporary Catholic schooling;
- NSW curriculum reform and new syllabuses;
- delivering quality curriculum and assessment; and
- artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
“Thank you for your brilliant organisation and thought provoking and challenging conversations.”
